Terms of Use

By downloading, installing, or using the Alter mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the App following any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.

Alter is an AI companion application that provides conversational interactions and companionship. The App is designed for entertainment and social interaction purposes.

IMPORTANT: Alter is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

The App is not designed to provide therapy, mental health treatment, or medical advice of any kind. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency, please contact emergency services immediately or reach out to a qualified mental health professional.

The AI companion provided by Alter is for entertainment and social interaction purposes only. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical or mental health condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of something you have experienced through the App.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable subscription fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on your iOS device for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Rent, lease, loan, resell, or distribute the App
• Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the App

The App is intended for users who are at least 13 years of age. If you are under 18 years of age, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the App, and your parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf.

By allowing a minor to use the App, the parent or legal guardian agrees to be bound by these Terms and to be responsible for the minor's use of the App.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information as soon as possible.

To access the App's features, you must create an account and maintain an active subscription. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete. You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account.

Subscription Terms

Access to Alter requires a paid subscription. Subscription fees are charged on a recurring basis according to your selected billing cycle. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method for the subscription fees.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel before the renewal date. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or the App Store. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period.

We reserve the right to change subscription fees with reasonable notice. Refunds are handled in accordance with Apple's App Store refund policies.

You agree not to engage in any of the following prohibited activities:

• Violating any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringing on intellectual property rights
• Transmitting harmful code, viruses, or malware
• Harassing, threatening, or intimidating others
• Attempting to gain unauthorized access to the App or related systems
• Interfering with or disrupting the App's functionality
• Using the App to harm minors in any way
• Impersonating any person or entity
• Collecting or harvesting information about other users
• Using automated systems or bots to access the App

The App and its entire contents, features, and functionality, including but not limited to all information, software, text, displays, images, audio, video, and the design, selection, and arrangement thereof, are owned by Alter, its licensors, or other providers of such material and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

The App may integrate with or contain links to third-party services, websites, or content that are not owned or controlled by us. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party services.

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information. By using the App, you consent to our collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ALTER, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Alter and its affiliates, licensors, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms or your use of the App.

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the App immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the validity, legality, and enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not be affected or impaired.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Alter regarding the use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings, whether written or oral.
